The need for advanced mathematics is growing in many different areas: Economics, Biology, Physics, Engineering, Genetics, and Computer Science to name a few. The Mathematics Department continues to work closely with other departments and programs to offer the mathematics courses that their students need. In addition, the Mathematics Department is designing new programs of student for undergraduate students who wish to major in mathematics with an emphasis in an applied area. Recent new programs in the department such as Bioinfomatics and Information Assurance are evidence that the Mathematics Department takes seriously its responsibility to provide opportunities for students in new and exciting areas of mathematics |
