The Alan Heckenbach Award

The award is in honor of Associate Professor Alan J. Heckenbach. Alan Heckenbach was a long-time faculty member in the Mathematics Department. For many years he served as an assistant chair in the department. He was especially interested in good advising for students and in helping improve the teaching of mathematics in secondary schools. He suffered a debilitating stroke in 1992, which ended his career as a teacher. He died a few years later.

Application procedure
Recipients are chosen by the Mathematics Department Undergraduate Committee based on recommendations from the faculty in Mathematics and Curriculum and Instruction. No applications are accepted or required.
