Two-way ICN class links on campus and off-site students
This morning Heather Thompson simultaneously greeted students in her campus classroom as well as other locations in Iowa using the Iowa Communications Network. The ICN format utilizes live two-way video and audio to allow distance students to participate live.
This session she is teaching Math 540, Seminar in Mathematics Education, designed for students enrolled in the Masteer of School Mathematic program or Professional Studies in Education program. The course covers research studies in mathematics learning and teaching, exemplary practices in mathematics education, and current state and national trends in the mathematics curriculum in grades K-12.
IMA PI summer program for graduate students
The Department will host the Institute for Mathematics and Its Applications June 30 through July 25. The course will concentrate on linear algebra and applications. Leslie Hogben, Wolfgang Kliemann, Yiu Tung Poon and Jason Grout organized the program, which features four speakers and seven visiting faculty members.. More than 40 students are registered to attend.
